Create a chart

Add a bar, line, or combo chart to the Charts page of a model and choose the variables that it plots.

A chart card plots one to five numeric variables of the model over time. Use a chart to show a trend, such as revenue by quarter, or to set two variables side by side, such as revenue and costs.

Only workspace owners can add or change cards. A teammate with a shared view can only read them.

1. Add the chart

  1. Go to Scenario planning → open a model → select Charts.
  2. Select New chart.
  3. Select Bar chart, Line chart, or Combo chart.

The new card shows at the end of the page with a name such as "Bar chart 8". It starts with up to three variables. Eigenn prefers aggregation rows and formula rows that have values other than zero.

2. Choose the variables

  1. On the card, select the settings button. Its label is Configure and the card name.
  2. Under Series 1, select a variable.
  3. Select Left axis or Right axis.
  4. Optional: select the color box and choose a color.
  5. To add a variable, select Add variable.
  6. To remove a variable, select its delete button.

The list shows each variable and aggregation row that has a numeric value. A chart holds up to five variables. You cannot remove the last variable. Use Right axis for a variable with a very different size, such as customer count next to revenue.

3. Change the type and labels

In the same settings panel, use these controls:

ControlResult
Chart type → BarOne bar for each variable in each period.
Chart type → LineOne line for each variable. The line is dashed after the Last actual date.
Chart type → ComboThe first variable shows as bars. The other variables show as lines.
Show data labelsShows the value above each bar.
Show growth rateAdds a dashed line with the change from the previous period. Line and combo charts only.

To show months, quarters, or years, see Time aggregation in charts.

4. Rename, copy, or delete the card

Select the more actions button (⋮) on the card. Then:

  • Select Edit to rename the card. Type the name and press Enter. Press Escape to cancel.
  • Select Copy → Duplicate to add a copy below the card.
  • Select Delete to remove the card.

To see a card at full width, select the expand button. Select it again to close.

What Eigenn saves

Eigenn saves each card with the model. It keeps the card, its name, and the chart type that you chose in New chart.

The settings panel changes the chart only while you stay on the page. This includes the variables, axes, colors, chart type, and labels. When you open the model again, the chart shows its default variables.

A model holds up to 100 cards.

Other cards in the New chart menu

CardWhat it shows

DistributionThe P10, P50, and P90 results of a formula with uncertainty.
ListogramThe items of a broken-down variable, ranked by value.
Freeform textA note with one live variable value. The text is not saved.

Connect a data source

Add a planning data source from the Data sources catalog and wait for its first refresh.

Create a dimension

Create a dimension from the Dimensions page or from inside a model, and add the items that it holds.
