Tables
Add table cards to the Charts page of a model, edit inputs by dimension item, and read the P&L tables.
The grid is the main table of a model. The Charts page adds table cards for review. A table card shows values without formulas.
The Charts page has four kinds of table card:
| Card | How you add it | What it shows |
|---|---|---|
| Table | New chart → Table | The variables that you choose, by period |
| Editable table | New chart → Editable table | One row for each item of a dimension, with input cells |
| Budget vs. actuals | The options menu of a variable in the grid | A base series against actuals, with variance |
| Summary Level P&L and Detailed P&L | Included in each new model | Fixed P&L rows, with a period comparison |
1. Add a table of variables
- Go to Scenario planning → open a model → select Charts.
- Select New chart → Table.
- In the layout list, select Variables as rows or Variables as columns.
- To add a variable, select it in Add variable….
- To remove a variable, select its delete button.
- Select the granularity button and choose Monthly, Quarterly, or Yearly.
The table starts with up to three variables. Each value uses the format of its variable. The layout, the variables, and the granularity apply only while you stay on the page.
2. Edit inputs by dimension item
An editable table shows one row for each item of a dimension. Each column is a variable that is broken down by that dimension.
- Select New chart → Editable table.
- In the dimension list on the card, select a dimension.
- Select an input cell and type the value.
- Select another cell or press Tab. Eigenn saves the value when the cell loses focus.
The value applies to every forecast period of that item. If the grid has a scenario other than the base active, the value becomes an override in that scenario. A scenario override accepts numbers only.
Cells of calculated variables show the value and do not accept input. If no variable uses the dimension, the card shows "Choose a dimension with mapped variables to create an editable table."
3. Read the P&L tables
Summary Level P&L and Detailed P&L show fixed rows. Eigenn finds each row by its name in the model. For example, Total Revenue also matches a row named Revenue. Profit also matches Net income or Net profit.
To compare each period with an earlier period:
- Select Compare on the card.
- Select Last month, Last quarter, or Last year. Select None to stop.
- To change the variance format, select Show variance as to toggle between Relative and Absolute.
The comparison steps back by whole columns. At Quarterly, Last month and Last quarter both compare with the previous quarter. Last year compares with the same quarter one year before.
4. Compare plan with actuals
A Budget vs. actuals table compares a saved version or the live model with actuals for the variables that you select. For the steps, see Compare scenarios and versions.
