Compare scenarios and versions
Switch the scenario of the Charts page, compare a saved version with actuals in a table, and find the side-by-side scenario table.
Charts and tables on the Charts page show one scenario at a time. Eigenn gives you three ways to compare results: switch the scenario of the page, add a Budget vs. actuals table, or open the Compare scenarios table.
The chart settings panel has no control to plot two scenarios or two versions on one chart.
1. Switch the scenario of the Charts page
- Go to Scenario planning → open a model → select Charts.
- In the header, open the scenario list. Its label is Dashboard scenario.
- Select a scenario.
Every card on the page shows the selected scenario. The list shows only when the model has two or more scenarios.
The switch does not change the model. The grid keeps its active scenario, and other readers do not see your choice. A teammate with a shared view stays on the scenario of that view.
2. Compare a saved version with actuals
A Budget vs. actuals table compares a base series with the Actuals series for the variables that you select.
- Optional: save the budget as a named version. Select Versions, enter a name, and select Create.
- In the grid, select a cell of the first variable. To add more rows, Shift-click a cell of the last variable. Use up to 20 variables.
- Select the options button (⋮) of one of these rows.
- Select Create budget vs. actuals table.
Eigenn adds a card named Budget vs. actuals to the Charts page. The base is the newest named version. When the model has no named version, the base is the live model, labeled Current.
The table has one row for each variable. When two or more selected variables are in the same section, it adds a total row for that section. The columns are:
| Column | Value |
|---|---|
| Base | The value of the base series |
| Actuals | The value of the actual periods, up to the Last actual date |
| Actuals Δ | Actuals minus the base |
| Actuals Δ% | Actuals minus the base, divided by the base |
Each value covers the full model range and follows the Time aggregation of its variable. Eigenn compares only the periods where both sides have values. When the base is 0 or blank, Δ% shows a dash.
Eigenn shows a warning in two cases:
- The model has no Last actual date. The Actuals column stays empty until you set one.
- The Last actual date covers periods of the base version. Those base values are actuals, not plan.
To rename a series on one card, select ⋮ → Rename series on the card. The new name changes only that card. The Actuals and Current series keep fixed names.
A version shows Not comparable in the version list when its granularity or currency differs from the live model. A series from that version shows dashes, and its column header gives the reason.
3. Compare scenarios side by side
Select Model settings → Scenarios. The Compare scenarios table shows one column for each scenario in the Period that you choose. It lists only the rows that a scenario changes. For the details, see Scenarios.
4. Read an old version
Select Versions, then select Preview on a version. The preview shows a table of the saved values. It does not change the model.
