Create and edit a view
Save a named view with filters, then edit, duplicate, reorder, set as default, or delete it.
A view keeps a name, a description, and a list of filters. The view editor has no separate layout for rows and columns. Filters control both: variable filters set the rows, and a Time period filter sets the period columns.
You must be a workspace Owner to create or change a view.
1. Open the view editor
- Go to Scenario planning → open a model.
- Select Views.
- Select New. If the model has no views, select Create a view.
A new view starts with the filters of the view that is open now. If All variables is open, the new view starts with no filters.
2. Name the view
- Type a name in the Add name field. The name is necessary, and it can have up to 120 characters.
- Optional: type a description in the Optional description field.
Use a name that tells the purpose, such as "Board review, FY27" or "Sales plan, Q3".
3. Add filters
- Select Add filter. The new filter starts as a Variable filter.
- Select the filter type in the first list.
- Select the operator, when the filter has one.
- Select or type the values.
| To control | Use these filters |
|---|---|
| The rows | Variable, Variable contains, Variable in section, Variable in group, Variable has dimension |
| The dimension items | Dimension |
| The period columns | Time period |
| The scenario | Scenario |
| The dashboard cards | Chart |
Each filter must have a value before you can save. To remove a filter, select × on its row. For the rules of each filter, see Filter a view.
4. Save the view
- Select Save to keep the view. Eigenn does not apply a new view. When you edit the open view, the grid shows the change.
- Select Save and apply to keep the view and show it at once.
- Select Cancel to close the editor without a save.
If the save fails, Eigenn shows an error message in the toolbar. The editor stays open, so you can try again.
5. Manage views
Open Views. Each view row has these controls:
| Control | Result |
|---|---|
| Up and down arrows | Move the view in the list. You can also drag the row. |
| Star | Set the view as the default. Select the star again to clear the default. A model has one default view. |
| Pencil | Open the view in the editor. |
| Copy | Make a duplicate and open it in the editor. A copy of "Revenue review" has the name "Revenue review copy". The copy has its own filters and is not the default. |
| Share | Open the sharing panel for this view. See Share a view. |
| Trash | Delete the view at once. |
When you delete the view that is open, the grid returns to All variables. A deleted view also loses all of its share grants.
