Connect a data source
Add a planning data source from the Data sources catalog and wait for its first refresh.
A data source is one dataset that Eigenn reads for planning actuals. You add sources from the Data sources catalog on the Data page. Connect a source before you link variables to actuals.
The catalog shows many providers. Only some of them supply a planning dataset now.
Sources that you can connect
| Source | Catalog tab | Planning dataset | Before you start |
|---|---|---|---|
| Xero | Accounting | Profit and loss and balance sheet | Connect Xero in Marketplace |
| Bank transactions | Other | The monthly net of each transaction category | Nothing |
| CSV import | Spreadsheets | The same category rollups, with the CSV transactions included | Import the CSV on the Transactions page |
| Stripe | Subscription / Billing | Invoice actuals | Invoices that Eigenn imported from Stripe |
| QuickBooks | Accounting | Invoice actuals | Invoices that Eigenn imported from QuickBooks |
You cannot select the Fortnox card. It shows No planning datasets yet. You also cannot select a card that shows Coming soon. To ask for a new source, select Request under Not finding what you need?.
1. Open the catalog
- Go to Scenario planning → Data.
- Select New. The Data sources catalog opens.
- Select a category tab, or keep All.
- Select an available source. Its setup steps open.
2. Set up a Xero source
- Under Choose a connection, check the Xero organization name. If the step shows "No Xero connection yet", select Connect it from the marketplace. Connect Xero, then start again.
- Select a dataset shows Profit and loss + Balance sheet. Both statements land as one source.
- Under Select an accounting method, select Accrual or Cash.
- Under Advanced configuration, set the Source label, the Months of history (1 to 36), and Include the current period.
- Select Create data source.
3. Set up a bank-transaction or CSV source
- Read the step Data comes from your bank activity. For CSV import, import the CSV on the Transactions page first.
- Select a dataset shows Transaction categories. The source includes all categories.
- Under Advanced configuration, set the Source label, the Months of history (1 to 60), and Include the current period.
- Select Create data source.
4. Use Stripe or QuickBooks invoice actuals
The setup shows No setup needed. Select Done. Invoice actuals appear after Eigenn imports invoices from the provider. They do not show as a card on the Data page. You link them from a model.
Advanced configuration
| Field | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Source label | "Xero P&L and Balance Sheet" or "Transaction categories" | The name on the card and in the model panels |
| Months of history | 12 for Xero, 24 for transactions | The number of whole months that each refresh reads |
| Include the current period | Off | Also reads the current month, which is not complete |
With Include the current period off, the history ends with the last complete month.
What happens next
A new source starts with the Refreshing… badge. When the first refresh is complete, the badge changes to Active. You can then link the source to a variable. If the badge shows Failed, the card shows the error.
