Duplicate a model
Make a separate copy of a planning model before a large change or to start a similar model.
A duplicate is a new, separate model. It starts with the same structure and values as the original. After that, a change in one model does not change the other.
Use a duplicate before a large structural change, or to start a model that is similar to one you have. Only a workspace Owner can duplicate a model.
Duplicate, scenario, or version
| You want to | Use |
|---|---|
| Compare different inputs on the same rows | A scenario |
| Keep a point in time that you can return to | A version |
| Change the structure in a separate model | A duplicate |
1. Duplicate the model
- Go to Scenario planning.
- Point to the model card. The card can be under Favorites, under Models, or in a folder.
- Click its actions button (Actions for the model name).
- Select Duplicate.
Eigenn creates the copy at the library root. The copy has the original name with " (copy)" at the end. For example, a copy of "Operating plan FY26" is "Operating plan FY26 (copy)".
2. Rename the copy
- Click the copy's card to open it.
- Click the model name at the top left of the grid.
- Type a new name and press Enter.
What the copy contains
The copy contains this model content:
- sections, variables, formulas, and inputs
- the time settings and periods
- the scenarios
- the dimensions
- the comments
- the charts
Eigenn calculates the copy one time when it creates it.
What the copy does not keep
| Item | In the copy |
|---|---|
| Folder | The copy starts at the library root. Move it to a folder after you create it. |
| Favorite star | The copy is not starred. |
| Icon | The copy gets the default 📊 icon. |
| Saved versions | The version history stays with the original model. |
| Saved exports | The saved exports and the export history stay with the original model. |
| Plans | Scenario adjustments move to the copy's own Default Plan. |
