Xero

Connect Xero, bring the P&L and the balance sheet into Eigenn as monthly actuals, and keep them current.

The Xero connector brings your profit and loss statement and your balance sheet into Eigenn. Each account becomes a data item that a model variable can read as an actual.

Use it when Xero holds your closed books.

1. Connect Xero

  1. Go to Marketplace.
  2. Find the Xero card.
  3. On the card, click Install.
  4. In the window that opens, sign in to Xero and approve access.
  5. Make sure that the Xero card now shows Disconnect.

2. Create a Xero source

  1. Go to Scenario planning → Data → click New.
  2. Select the Xero card.
  3. Under Choose a connection, make sure that your Xero organization shows.
  4. Under Select a dataset, the dataset is Profit and loss + Balance sheet. Both statements land as one source.
  5. Under Select an accounting method, click Accrual or Cash.
  6. Under Advanced configuration, set the fields in the table below.
  7. Click Create data source.
FieldDefaultAllowed values
Source labelXero P&L and Balance Sheet1 to 80 characters
Months of history121 to 36
Include the current periodClearedSelected or cleared

Cash applies to the P&L only. The balance sheet always uses accrual.

If the wizard shows "No Xero connection yet", Create data source stays disabled. Click Connect it from the marketplace and do step 1.

You can also create a source from inside a model. Click Model settings → Data sources. Under Statement actuals, click Add Xero source. This source uses the default values.

3. What the source contains

  • One month of each statement for each month in the history window.
  • The window ends with the last full month. Select Include the current period to add the month in progress.
  • One data item for each P&L or balance-sheet account. The account list shows the account code when Xero has one, the account name, and P&L or Balance sheet.
  • Amounts in the currency of the Xero organization.

4. Link an account to a variable

  1. Open the model and click Model settings → Data sources.
  2. Under Statement actuals, select the source, an account, and a variable.
  3. Click Attach statement actuals.

The source must be Active before you can attach an account.

5. Refresh the source

  • Eigenn refreshes each Active source one time each day, at 03:30 UTC.
  • On the Data page, click the refresh icon on the source card. To refresh every visible source, click Refresh all data sources in the toolbar.
  • In a model, click Refresh source under Statement actuals.

A refresh reads Xero again and replaces the records of the source. It does not change data in Xero. Then Eigenn updates the models that use the source.

6. Limits and errors

  • A failed card shows the Failed badge and the error in place of the last refresh time.
  • The daily refresh skips a failed source. Refresh it manually after you fix the cause.
  • If you disconnect Xero, a refresh fails with "The Xero connection for this planning data source is no longer available." Connect Xero again, then create a new source.
  • Xero invoices that Eigenn imports appear as xero under Actual data in a model. See QuickBooks for how invoice actuals work.
