Dimensions
Create lists of items such as regions or departments, break variables down by them, and let Eigenn roll the items up into totals.
A dimension is a named list of items, such as Department with Engineering, Sales, Marketing, and G&A. When you break a variable down by a dimension, the variable gets one row for each item. The variable keeps one formula. Eigenn runs the formula for each item and rolls the items up into the total row of the variable.
Use a dimension when the same calculation repeats for each region, department, entity, product, or channel. When you add an item, every variable that uses the dimension gets a row for it.
A dimension is not a transaction category. A category labels transactions for reports across the workspace. A dimension splits variables in one planning model.
A dimension belongs to one model. A dimension is a flat list. The Hierarchy type shows as coming soon. You manage dimensions in two places:
- The Dimensions page lists the dimensions of all models of the team. Go to Scenario planning → Dimensions.
- Inside a model, select More → Dimensions to open the dimensions of that model.
